camp.

Steve Acuff preached tonight and did very well. I got to talk to Bill Filsinger. It had been awhile since I'd seen him.

Mom and Dad came up to listen to Steve preach.

Got the nurse thing done today. Ready for that to be over.

I always take my French bible to church. I'm amazed at how much better the French language sounds than the English language. Here's an example. Tonight Steve preached on John 1:5.
"And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not."

Here's the french version:
La lumière luit dans les ténèbres, et les ténèbres ne l'ont point reçue.

It's just pretty (no matter what you say).

The translation also isn't how it is typically preached. "reçue" is French for "received". They way I've always heard it preached is that the darkness tried to "put out the light" but I read the translation as "light tried to penetrate the dark but was unable to". Of course, I'm not exactly a bible scholar. The literal transalation goes: "The light shone in darkness and the darkness did not receive it." Please note that I am not a preacher or even knowledgeable about the bible so please take these comments with a grain of salt. I guess that's the way to get a lot of comments on my blog posts. Start arguing religion. I would lose every time though.
