house update.

So yesterday I got a call from the renters saying that he was driving over to bring my cash. I didn't go and deposit the check. I waited up until 11:00PM and unsurprisingly he didn't show up. I left him a voice mail (because he forwarded his calls to voice mail) saying that something had to be done and lawyers were going to be contacted. I get another call this morning and he is "leaving right now to come over here". Right. He said he ended up in Arkansas City and some other baloney and that's why he didn't make it.

I called a few lawyers. The one I got a hold of was in Springfield and he suggested using a local lawyer because it's a fairly straight forward process and would save money. So I found one but he's busy this week in court.

I called the bank that the check was written on and they do not have enough money to make the transaction (as of today and I'm betting that won't change).

At this point, it appears that we are headed back to Diamond. This really depresses me because I'm getting used to Independence and I'd really like Patrick and Nellie to get to go to school here. But apparently it just isn't supposed to work out.
