fun stuff

Anyone who knows anything about me, knows that early in life I wanted to be a Nuclear Engineer.  However my mother talked (prayed?) me out of going into that due to the fact that there aren't any jobs for that area.  This is something that I will hold against her for the rest of my natural life (or until Alzheimer's kicks in).  However there is good news.  I can build my own nuclear fusion device.  That's right.  www.fusor.net.  This is of course exciting news for me, and...  uhhh...  hmmm....  well.....  Ok.  Just me.  There are several downsides to attempting to build one.  The biggie is that you are working with EXTREMELY high voltages.  The next biggie is that if you build it wrong and get a radiation leak then you end up looking like this guy (and that is probably the best scenario).  Another problem is that the temperature in the "device" can reach in the 20 - 400 million degree range.  You think 118 degrees is a hot day?  Any who...  For those starting to get concerned, I'm not going to do it with one big caveat:  I would like to someday.  Unfortunately one of my "rules" in life has been "Never use what I build".  This would be a major deviation.  But I wouldn't have to worry about Alzheimer's.
