oh dear.

Well one shoe has dropped at work. No... I'm not laid off but things are looking particularly bad. Of course you must keep in mind that I'm a pessimist. Looks like I may have to make some tough decisions.
  1. Keep my career and move. Houma, LA comes to mind!
  2. Choose a new career and take a pay cut.
I'm really leaning towards #2. However Miranda will have to be involved with this as well. This would be a prime opportunity to get my Nuclear Engineering degree. Along a similar yet different track, would be Nuclear Medicine Technologist. The plus of that would be that you get to bombard people with radioactive materials which would be interesting. The downside is that they hate you forever. To which I reply... "Get in line. The end of the line is way back there.".

There are some tricks to this though. Nuclear power just really isn't taking off and doesn't appear that it ever will. Three mile island really damaged the American psyche. They keep saying that it will but I'm not so sure about that. Nuclear Medicine may be tough to get in to and I'm not sure I want all that pain.

The other thing would be to get an education degree and become a Chemistry/Computer/Physics teacher. I really enjoy Chemistry thanks to my High School Chemistry teacher. As soon as I saw Potassium and Water (K + H20 = BOOM!) that piqued my interest. It does get better though.

There are other misc. stuff that interests me but probably aren't worth the time. Computational Linguistics, Linguistics in general, move to Antarctica to study penguins, buy a fishing boat and move to Martinique.

Or I could just become a bum.
